Suburban Behavioral Health Services
Board Certified Psychiatrists & Behavioral Counselors located in Oakbrook Terrace, IL & Wheaton, IL
Medication management is part of providing essential care when managing any health issues and their effects on someone. Not all medications affect everyone in the same way; this is why it is important to monitor for side effects and interactions with other medications to ensure individuals are receiving proper care.
What is medication management in mental health?
Mental health medication management differs from general medication management in that persons with mental health concerns are often managed by both a prescriber (e.g., a primary care physician or psychiatrist) and a therapist at the same time. If a person chooses to work with a therapist, the prescriber and therapist may collaborate to check for any negative effects of medicine on any symptoms the person is experiencing.
