The Creyos test is a diagnostic screening tool that provides objective information to aid the assessment of ADD/ADHD. The test uses age and gender-matched comparisons to assess a child or adult’s ability to concentrate, their movement, and their impulsivity. The Creyos test is an essential part of the ADHD pathway, and the results are used in conjunction with other ADHD assessment tools to aid clinical judgement.

ADHD test Q & A

What is the ADHD testing?

ADHD testing is an FDA-cleared test measuring all 3 core symptom domains of ADHD: hyperactivity, impulsivity, and inattention. The test is used when evaluating ADHD symptoms and measuring response to ADHD treatment. It involves a 15- or 20-minute computer-based task that measures your (or your child’s) ability to maintain attention and impulse control. Meanwhile, an infrared camera tracks movements, and therefore activity, during the test. The results are based on a comparison of your (or your child’s) performance with data from other people of the same sex and age who do not have ADHD.

Here at Suburban Behavioral Health Services, we utilize the Creyos testing platform, which empowers our psychiatrists to deliver precise diagnoses, offer tailored treatment guidance, and enhance patient communication.

Creyos ADHD assessments include four cognitive tests that efficiently measure aspects of attention and executive function, the Sustained Attention to Response Task (SART), and an optional age-appropriate questionnaire. By providing objective data on cognitive and behavioral health, clinicians can swiftly alleviate symptoms and confidently monitor medication impact. This evidence-based approach enables patients to experience improved outcomes and thrive under care.

What is the Creyos ADHD Assessment?
The Creyos ADHD Assessment is a protocol that uses a combination of cognitive tasks and behavioral questionnaires to assess for ADHD.

Why test for ADHD?

Adding objective ADHD technology can help to:

1. Improve accuracy of diagnosis;

2. Shorten time to diagnosis

3. Capture treatment response not reflected accurately by rating scales

When will I receive my results?

The raw data is available immediately after the test is completed. However, your clinician must first interpret the data together with other relevant information. In some cases, feedback can be provided in the same appointment, but sometimes a follow-up appointment will need to be scheduled.

What does the report look like?
Providers receive a detailed report indicating whether patients fall within the typical range for ADHD markers, including details on each task and its markers, as well as behavioral problems and ADHD symptoms tied to questionnaire responses.

How should I prepare for ADHD testing?

  • Try to ensure adequate sleep the night before the test.
  • Avoid consuming excessive amounts of caffeine the day of the test.
  • If you are to be tested while on ADHD medication, please ensure that you take the medication as directed. Our office will schedule the test a specific number of hours after the medication is taken, depending on the type of medication.
  • The total time for the testing session will be around 30 minutes. This includes the time for set-up, instructions, practice, and taking the actual test.

During the test, you will sit in front of a computer screen.

Take all medications prescribed. Do not take any recreational drugs before the test. Do not use THC or CBD products within 36 hours of the test.
